Conference of Oncology Patients from Central and Eastern Europe Countries: „Oncology as a priority”.
The conference, which was held in Sofia (Bulgaria) on 9-11 May 2008, was organized by National Association of Patients with Oncological Diseases - (APOZ) and ECPC Coalition. The main topics of the Bulgarian forum, which focused on the Central and Eastern Europe problems, was the introduction and development of effective plans for the eradication and prevention of oncological diseases, dissemination of best practices, the introduction and dissemination of screening. They also discussed about the ways to improve care and increase the chances of survival for patients with cancer, especially in those countries where oncology patients have a statistically very low chances of survival.
The conference was preceded by a meeting in Parliament. Leading politicians from the region of Central and Eastern Europe, the Ministers of Health, members of European Parliament and Members of the Bulgarian Parliament, took part in it. The result of the meeting is recommendation connected with increasing the chances of survival and the quality of life of patients with cancer from Bulgaria.
Jolanta Kwaśniewska led several major plenary sessions of the conference and participated in a meeting in Parliament.

The conference, which took place in Brussels on 7-8 April 2008, held under the honorary patronage of the Slovenia Presidency and with the participation of MEPs against Cancer (MAC), which ECPC Coalition organized.
The conference gathered oncology specialists, politicians and patients from the whole Europe. Intensive discussions were associated mainly with the prevention, reduction of disease, providing medical care for every citizen and increase chances of survival for cancer patients from the whole Europe and its regions. Jolanta Kwaśniewska took an active part in it, and together with Prof. Louis Denis, she led one of the plenary sessions.
During the conference, Jolanta Kwaśniewska, who supported the ECPC action for years, was asked to become an official Patron of the European Cancer Patient Coalition, which is an honor an obligation, she also adopted.
